Joe leads Partnerships & Market Intelligence at D.E. Shaw, where he's helping shape the firm's AI transformation strategy. He sits at the intersection of technology and business—translating complex AI capabilities into strategic opportunities and building the partnerships that make them real.
Before D.E. Shaw, Joe spent four years at BCG as Director and Global Head of AI & Growth Tech Partnerships, where he led strategy and go-to-market for partnerships with OpenAI, Databricks, Snowflake, and others. He built GenAI-powered knowledge management tools, developed Python analytics platforms, and earned BCG's Business Team Leadership Award (top ~1% of performers). He's also held product roles at Gusto, where he shipped an AI customer support chat serving 100k+ monthly users.
Joe's entrepreneurial roots run deep. He was an early co-founder of Stanford's StartX accelerator, later led Runway Incubator through its acquisition (advising 60+ startups and facilitating $1B+ in funding), and continues to invest as a Venture Partner at Revel Partners and Village Global. He started his career as a Teach For America corps member and Goldman Sachs analyst—experiences that shaped his belief that the best technology serves everyone, not just the privileged few.
He holds an MBA from Michigan Ross, an MS in Computer Science (Honors, ML specialization) from Rice, and a BS in Engineering from Stanford. When he's not building, you'll find him training for triathlons, attempting to salsa dance, or cooking something ambitious in his New York kitchen.
